ChicsCanClick France - Who we are.
Nikki is one of the organisers of the ChicsCanClick wildlife photographic safari trips to the Sabi-Sands in South Africa. She is by no means a photographic expert but enjoys being able to click away hopefully capturing something exciting along the way. Her husband Steve joins her here in France to help out with the logistics and to share his photographic knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
Why France.
We live here and have come to know and enjoy the richness and variety which the region has to offer - from its natural reserves, its history, its fauna and flora to its food, wine and culture. We would love to share some of this with you. This is also a chance to get your toe in the water before committing to an African trip!
What is involved.
Travel to Normandy. Stay at a local hotel, a nearby gîte or bunk down at our place in Morsalines. Choose from the daily itineraries available or have one made for you - see the next section for more details on these. Each day involves some photography, a walk, a leisurely French lunch, a visit to a D'Day museum/memorial and a review of the days photos.
Where does this take place.
The area is known as Basse-Normandy (Lower Normandy) and the reserves and D'Day sites can all be found on the Contentin Peninsula (also referred to as the Cherbourg Peninsula). We live in a small hamlet called Morsalines and all our itineraries are within an hour from our home. Specific maps are included in the Itinerary section for each Itinerary.
We have included a separate section called D'Day Morsalines where you can read in more detail how the events around D'Day played out in and around Morsalines itself.
When can I do this?
All year round. Spring is breeding season and winter finds the migratory birds arriving. The history and wonderful architecture is always present as is the wonderful outdoors, beaches and cuisine. So if interested let us know - we would love to hear from you.
