We have created five different itineraries (see the links at the top for full details).

Each itinerary sets out the specific natural area/reserve and WWII D'Day sites that will be visited on the day but remember itineraries are flexible and can be tailored to meet your needs/interests.

Each itinerary includes

  • some information on the natural area itself

  • what local wildlife/birds may be found in the area

  • some information about the specific D'Day site, museum or historical building

  • an idea of how long we will stay at each site, what walks mat be available and where we would have lunch

  • what else there might be to do/see in the area time permitting

A google map is associated with each itinerary and by clicking on the icons in the map, additional information and photos will be enabled.

A typical day starts with coffee and croissants. Load up the car and we're off to our first location for a photography session, usually combined with a short walk (max 4km or 2.5 miles). Then follows a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant. Thereafter a trip to a D'Day landing site/museum to take in a little more history and capture some of that on film. Late afternoon is for rest and relaxation and early evening is taken up with a short review of the day's photographs plus some aperitifs. Then it's off to bed for a well earned rest.

Although there are five itineraries (assuming a week between weekend travel) we can do any number of days to suit your own plans.

There is so much to see here and we have only really scratched the surface so below is a list of some of the other sites that may be of interest. You may want to explore these on your own or we could convert it into an itinerary for you.

  • The Island of Tatihou - a UNESCO world heritage site - easily accessible from Saint Vaast-La-Hougue

  • Le Mont Saint Michele - spectacular and can be done as a day trip

  • Bayeaux and the Bayeux Tapestry - a beautiful village well worth a visit

  • Caen and the D'Day landing beaches of the Canadian and British forces
